Year 6 residential to France

After a good nights rest, refuelled with cereal and croissants , we set off to Fougeres Castle.  We spent the morning visiting this medieval monument and learning about its history.  Then back to the Chateau for lunch and afternoon activities including archery, climbing wall and nightline. The staff were really impressed by the children’s positive attitudes to trying new skills that have taken them out of their comfort zones.

Visited a typical French market in St Hilair.  Many of the children tried crepes and had the opportunity to purchase souvenirs.  The fine weather enabled us to picnic in a park and then it was back to the Chateau for more activities including fencing, zip wire and a team building exercise.  Tonight is French night  where we will be dressing up and sampling some French delacies!

The sun has been shining which was perfect for our full day away from the Chateau.  First stop Mont St Michel where the children were wowed by this magnificent wonder of the world.  We had a challenging and interesting walk up to the cathedral before winding our way down and visiting the many gift shops on route.  Many of you parents and carers are in for a treat!  From there we had a picnic lunch and celebrated a birthday with cakes before heading off to the medieval walled town of St Malo. The children loved the cobbled walkways which all seemed to lead to ice cream shops!  Back to the Chateau for a delicious last night dinner, more birthday cake and now the children are getting ready for evening entertainment- a disco and talent show.

with regards to information about estimated return times back to school tomorrow, please see the strap line on the home page of the website which we will update as often as we can.  This will be the only means of communication.  Looking forward to seeing you all very early on Saturday morning!
